Forever My Blue Star

$2,000.00

Materials: Mixed-media on canvas (oil, acrylic, sand, modeling paste and others)
Dimensions: 36” x 36”

Some people walk beside us for only part of the journey, yet their light stays with us for the rest of our lives.

I painted this piece for my best friend, who shared my childhood and young adulthood, and whose kindness quietly guided me through so many seasons of life. Before she left this world, she told me she would become a blue star in the sky. Ever since, whenever I look up, I feel her there—still watching, still shining, still showing me the way.

Deep cobalt blue fills the canvas like a night sky that holds both sorrow and peace. Across it, marks of white and gold glimmer like stars, small sparks of light that refuse to fade into the dark.

This painting is a treasure of memory and gratitude. It is a reminder that the people who pass through our lives never truly leave us. Their love becomes part of who we are, and their light continues to shine on us, long after they are gone.

It will remind you of your own blue stars, and it will shine in any room where it is displayed.

This painting is part of The Light We Carry, ten new paintings about the light we hold on to, and the light we pass on.

Each one began with a moment from my life: a question from a burned-out colleague, my son comparing his love for me to fried chicken, a friend I lost who promised to become a blue star, my grandmother telling me I was special. On the canvas, those moments became flowers. They rise out of rugged, sandy textures, dissolve into drifting color, and open again.

Where The Genesis of Bloom asked where we belong, this collection asks what we carry with us. Softness and strength. Memory and hope. The kindness of the people who shaped us. Even through dark seasons, that light stays, and it finds its way out.

All works are original, one-of-a-kind, mixed media on canvas.
