Floral Currents (I Wake Up And Swim In Flowers)

$1,400.00

Materials: Mixed-media on canvas (oil, acrylic, sand, modeling paste and others)
Dimensions: 40” x 30” x 1”

Floral Current explores a state of freedom, transformation, and surrender. Inspired by the fluid movement of water and the ever-changing nature of hydrangeas, the painting captures the feeling of drifting beyond the boundaries of ordinary experience into a space that is dreamlike, expansive, and unbound.

Hydrangeas serve as the central motif. Known for their ability to change color according to the environment in which they grow, they become symbols of adaptation, resilience, and transformation. Here, the blossoms are no longer rooted to the earth. Instead, they float through currents of color and light, suspended between sky, water, and imagination.

Long, sweeping brushstrokes weave through the composition, making both gentle and powerful movements. The flowing curves evoke a feminine energy, soft yet confident, graceful yet evolving. Shades of blue, violet, and pink blend seamlessly together, suggesting a world where forms are in perpetual motion and where certainty gives way to possibility.

Within the layers of color, a subtle figure seems to emerge and disappear. It remains intentionally undefined, inviting viewers to pause and question what they see. Is it a face, a spirit, a memory, or simply a trick of perception? The ambiguity creates a dialogue between the painting and the viewer, allowing each person to discover their own meaning.

Enhanced by luminous gold details and an immersive scale, the work becomes a portal into another universe. Floral Currents invite you to float freely, to embrace transformation, and to experience the beauty of being carried by forces larger than ourselves.

This is part of the series “The Genesis of Bloom” where I explore the idea of belonging. I paint the feeling of my experience that I have often found myself suspended in the space between, neither here nor there, carrying fragments of many homes while belonging fully to none.

When captured that feeling in this series, I opened a new space.

A place not defined by geography, language, history, or expectation. A place where uncertainty becomes freedom, where fragmentation becomes possibility. With every brushstroke, a new universe emerges—one in which I can exist exactly as I am.

I invite you to enter that space with me.

Leave behind the need for definitions, explanations, and familiar references. Allow yourself to move beyond what you think you see and listen instead to what you feel. Here, there are no expectations to meet and no roles to play. There is only the quiet encounter between yourself and your deepest thoughts, memories, and emotions.

And perhaps, in that moment of surrender and self-discovery, you may find what I found:

A place to belong. A place to bloom.
